Disco Inferno – The Five EPs

Here for all to witness is the wonderfully fleshed out evolution of one of the premier bands of modern times, Disco Inferno.  I’ve already shared their greatest album – DI Go Pop – so now it’s time to realize the full trajectory of this majestic yet mind-bogglingly ignored outfit from post-punk innovators to something altogether more advanced, alien, and never since equalled.

Between 1992 and 1994 this band singlehandedly expanded the concept of what rock music could be, influencing countless other forward-thinking artists while remaining shrouded from the public, and as it turns out, history’s gaze.  The five EPs collected here represent some of the most staggering artistic growth a single group has ever achieved in a lifetime – and Disco Inferno accomplished this feat in only two years.

  1. Thanks for posting these! A little annoyed that they weren’t labeled with their respective EPs, but a trip to Wikipedia sorted that. However in the Wikipedia article for “A Rock To Cling To” it has the two songs switched from what’s in the download (going by the song lengths) and the second song actually titled “From the Devil to the Deep Blue Sky” (instead of ‘sea’).

Don’t know which is correct, but I thought I’d bring this to your attention. Thanks again!

    • Thank you for noting that – indeed I think wiki has the two songs ordered correctly (whoever originally compiled the Five EPs got it wrong and every copy since has carried the error) BUT the title is indead From the Devil to the Deep Blue Sea. So switch those around, but don’t add “Sky”. Thank you again, I may edit the post to note this.

  3. The correct title is “From The Devil To The Deep Blue SKY” – as labelled on the original CD single. Everybody seems to assume it’s ‘sea’ cos that’s how we commonly say the phrase, but not in this case!

And for the record, “A Rock To Cling To” is the shorter track (with vocals) and is the A side, and “…..Deep Blue Sky” is the nine minute instrumental track, otherwise known as the AA side.
